There is an audible strain here in the climactic third verse, the opposite of chilled-out nature vibes. As Dylan sings "stare straight ahead and try so hard to stay right," one can hear the strain in his pinched voice and in the piano, which once again stumbles out of the 3/4 waltz at "Like a red rose of summer..."
