Harry Belafonte, "The Midnight Special," Bob Dylan on harmonica
New York, NY — February 1962
One of Dylan's first high-profile sideman gigs, this recording has him playing handheld and displaying his skill at some basic blues-harp tricks, including bending and wah-wah effects. (NB: In the book I mistakenly call this Dylan's first recording session in NYC. It isn't. He had already recorded his debut album by this point, and had done harmonica session work for Carolyn Hester in September 1961.)
