Here, in the fifth verse, Dylan reaches his vocal plateau. He begins in his middle register, but by the son's fifth answer ("Where the home in the valley meets the damp, dirty prison") he begins alternating between two pitches high in his register (high for 1994, that is), staying there for much of the rest of the verse.
